Stages of waking up
- serenity, numbness, innocent ignorance, floating, no pressure
- first movement: (minimal) isolated part of the body; inevitability of waking up, harder to go back; quick start, then fluctuations (its indisputably there, set in stone now)
- temperature change gradual – point of no return
- second, larger movement, more relevant in terms of sub-elements; misguided attempt at preventing the inevitable; “oh shit” feeling
- whole body move; “exploding into existence”, exploding sense of touch; exposed, self-conscious; you can see the body, the position is clear
- pause – self-reflection, this is where I am, I can’t avoid this
- stretching of the body – precise pressure points, temperature goes up (and stays a bit higher)
- ticks, sharp movements, aggressive/angry, need to shake off the sense of numbness – I want to be fully awake now
- battle with the duvet – its nice and soft, it smothers me; struggle for dominance with the duvet (comes to a slow end and fades into next stage)
- the point of comparison is no longer from sleeping; I’m getting used to his senses; new kind of calm
General idea
- waking up – through the perspective of the subjects skin
- the viewers standpoint is the skin (contact points with the bed)
- exploring touch, by representing it in an abstract animation
- pressure
- texture
- (temperature)
- neutrality
- time-stretch the actual time
- every second explored in depth up to a couple of minutes
- only time-stretch the after-time, not the sharp changespace
- sense of “awakening”
- will the senses start to work, be functional
(breathing, heart beat in the later stages what you feel the pressure)
First brainstorming
- one “around” screen (almost 360)
- music, screen action representing instruments
- could be long (5 min for video release, 7-8 min for installation)
- maybe interactive as well as playback? to consider
