The character design has been a strong focal point for me and has been extensively developed. Various ideas have come and gone, including the use of photographs and projections attributed to the characters form. What I eventually settled on is comparatively simple, one or two basic body parts, attached to a small number of ball and socket and/or, hinge based limbs.
The simplicity of the models structure gives it a rather simple outline and a strong profile. A strong profile is important as they will be mostly standing side-on to the camera. Although all of the same simple style, each character was designed to appear unique and recognizable from the others. As there is no dialogue, the characters mannerisms shall be exhibited in their form and movement, so in both of these areas they must all appear identifiable.
